Arson Fire at Winter Street Studios
On the morning of December 20, 2022, Winter Street Studios, where I have my art studio was attacked by an arsonist who had a disagreement with a downstairs studio neighbor. The fire and explosion destroyed three studios and sent smoke and soot throughout the entire building. Three of my paintings that were in an exhibition near the source of the fire were destroyed and the entire contents of my studio including paintings, art supplies, equipment and furniture have smoke and soot damage. Thankfully, I believe that my paintings can be restored through a meticulous process of cleaning and remeditating. Most of my supplies, equipment and furniture however are not worth saving and must be replaced. Finally, because the fire caused structural damage to the part of the building where my studio is located, I had to move out of my studio immediately.
Because my losses are already in the thousands, I have set up a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of getting reestablished in a new studio. The link is below along with a link to a story about how Winter Street Studios artists are dealing with the aftermath of the fire. Best to you, Cary
